East County Neighborhoods:
A peaceful, country feeling settles over you as you enter Lakeside, one of San Diego County´s original western towns. Lakeside is a proud community with a rural atmosphere and a sense of hometown traditions. As you might suspect, there are several lakes and reservoirs in Lakeside: El Capitan, San Vicente, Lindo Lake and Lake Jennings!
Lakeside residents enjoy many outside activities on a year-round basis. Horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and boating are just a few of the outdoor activities. The community features four lakes and eight parks. Lindo Lake, located in the center of town, is the only natural lake in all of San Diego County.
Lakeside is known for being home of Barona Valley Ranch & Casino, with its hotel, restaurants and golf course! Residents flock to the annual Western Days Parade, and Lakeside Rodeo in April. The rodeo grounds often hosts country music concerts, 4-H and FFA events, and hosts BBQs/fundraisers for many local groups. Exceptional educational opportunities are available at its seven elementary schools, two middle schools, along with several private schools, and El Capitan High School, part of the Grossmont School District.
This country town is located about 25 miles east of downtown San Diego and only minutes from the mountains and deserts. The town´s location near Interstate 8 and Highway 67 gives residents easy access to all parts of San Diego County.
Perspective homeowners looking for some land for their horses and livestock will want to focus on the areas of Wildcat Canyon, El Monte, Willow, Eucalyptus Hills and Moreno Valley.
